Genesis 2:19-20 (NIV)

19 Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.

God wants us to create alongside him. For centuries, churches have been built as places to meet with God: to talk with him, to learn from him and to worship him. Often they were built as an act of worship – to glorify him. You only have to look at buildings like Westminster Abbey in London and Notre Dame in Paris to know that the breath-taking beauty of these buildings was designed to please God.

At the ‘Bricks & Mortar’ event,  we excitedly launched one million churches (please click here to find out more). Bricks & Mortar is just the beginning of the project. A church should not be defined by a building, it is so much more (but we will talk about this more another time).

At the workshop, we looked at the architecture that makes the physical church and how these buildings glorify God in different ways.
